Immigration sucks. Especially if you hold a unique passport. Blacklisted is a heartwarming, autobiographical tale of borders and belonging, featuring music inspired by South Asian Classical, jazz, blues and rock. When Almitra was nineteen she made a deal with her Ma, she needed to leave Pakistan to have the future in theatre she always wanted. The two things stopping her—a unique passport... and bloody Canada. In this autobiographical cabaret with all original music, she shares her story of displacement, racial profiling, and visa rejections. Originally written as an angsty hate letter to Canada, the show has evolved into a heartwarming tale of borders and belonging, that is both unique and universally relevant.
"Genuine storytelling... impactful and enjoyable... told with sincerity and a dash of playfulness"
